Fall 2026 Swim Team Registration is Open!
Welcome to the Gulf Shores Swim Team!
Our Mission
The goal of Gulf Shores Swim Team is to provide a safe, fun and supportive program where kids gain a lifelong love of swimming, cultivate friendships, and develop skills to grow in the sport. We encourage our swimmers to focus on the aspects of teamwork, responsibility, respect and perseverance that make competitive sports so important in preparing our youth for future success.
Our Vision
GSST is a year-round USA affiliated recreational swim program, offering opportunities for swimmers of all skill levels. Practices focus on technique and skill mastery, developmentally appropriate speed and stamina advancement, and achievable goal setting to instill team pride and confidence in all our Dolphins, regardless of age, ability, skill, or experience.
Team Guidelines
Our coaching staff is committed to teaching life skills through swimming, and we believe there is much more value to our sport than just learning physical skills. Swimming provides an arena for children to learn to deal with success and failure, as well as the value of hard work and goal setting. Each meet, event, and practice serve as an opportunity for our swimmers to develop both as athletes and as people.

Coach Gabi discovered her love for swimming at the age of seven, beginning her competitive journey with a local swim team in Costa Rica. Her passion and dedication led her to represent Costa Rica on its National Team at the International Level. She also competed for the National University of Costa Rica, where she graduated with a degree in Physical Education and Health Promotion.
Since 2010, Coach Gabi has been teaching and coaching swimming in the United States at various YMCA facilities in Pennsylvania. Her experience spans all age groups and abilities—from parent‑child classes and special‑needs instruction to adult lessons and competitive youth training. During her time with the YMCA, she served as an Assistant Coach, a Head Coach, and an Aquatics Coordinator for nearly three years.
Coach Gabi recently moved to Gulf Shores, where she continues to share her passion for swimming and youth development. Outside the pool, she enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, and going to the beach with her family. Her three young children also love spending time in and around the water.
As a coach, she views swimming as a sport that is both fun and challenging. She prioritizes proper technique across all strokes to build strong habits and reduce the risk of injury in young swimmers. Her goal is to help athletes develop skills they can carry throughout their lives, encouraging a healthy and lifelong relationship with the sport.
We welcome Coach Gabi to the GSST Family!
