First Swim Meet Success!

Good morning, GSST Parents and Family!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out for our first swim meet last night! We were thrilled to finally get the season underway and give our families a taste of how meets work. We are incredibly proud of the effort and enthusiasm our young swimmers put in. Also, a huge shout-out to the parents who helped with timing. We cannot facilitate meets without your help. Thank you!

🔔 Important Reminders & Updates

  • Understanding Heat Sheets: We received many questions about heat sheets last night. I have attached the videos and clips to this email/post to help explain how they work. Please take a look if you're still unsure—we know this can be overwhelming for those new to swim meets!
  • Meet Times Update: We will notify you as soon as the official times are posted. We truly appreciate your patience as we get those entered.
  • 🦃 Thanksgiving Break: A final reminder that there is NO PRACTICE NEXT WEEK due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

We are a new and young team, and learning together is part of the fun! Have a wonderful holiday filled with family and friends!

Georgia Smith Head Coach

Meet GSST's new Head Coach

We are excited to announce Georgia Smith as the new Head Coach of the Gulf Shores Swim Team!

A competitive swimmer since age 5, Georgia comes to us from Pensacola with experience and passion. Growing up in a military family, she had the unique opportunity to swim with many different organizations — but no matter where she lived, the water felt like home. After graduating from the University of West Florida with a degree in Public Health, Georgia immediately began her coaching career at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola.

She most recently served as the Aquatic Supervisor at NAS with certifications as a Red Cross Water Safety instructor and Lifeguard instructor. As a previous swimmer with the PNY (Pensacola Navy Youth) club team, Georgia was excited to give back to the swim community she held dear. She found fulfillment in teaching swimming lessons and coaching youth swimmers. Georgia helped to rebuild the newly formed Blue Angel Aquatic Club and coached the pre-competition team along with assisting other age groups. Through her experience, she discovered a true passion for helping swimmers grow, both in skill and in their love for the sport.

Outside of the pool, Georgia enjoys hiking trails with her dog, Rocco, and spending quality time with friends and family. She is eager to bring her energy, experience, and dedication to our program, working closely with each swimmer to help them reach their full potential — in and out of the pool.

Please join us in giving Coach Georgia a warm Dolphin welcome!
