Day of

1. Arrival (15-20 minutes before scheduled warm-up). When you arrive at the pool, look for coaches and family/swimmers in team attire. This will be our designated team area.

2. Swimmer & Volunteer Check-in

  • Swimmers: Immediately find a coach to check in. This is the most important step, as it lets the coaches know you are present and ready to swim.
  • Volunteers: If you signed up to time, write, or help in any other way, please check in at the volunteer table as soon as you arrive. They will provide instructions, a name tag, and your lane assignment. Thank you for your help—meets can't run without our volunteers!
  • 3. Warm-up

The coaches will lead the swimmers through warm-up routine in designated lanes. It is important for swimmers to participate, as this helps prevent injury and prepares their muscles for racing.

    4. Racing

Listen for the announcer to call events to the starting blocks. It is the swimmer's responsibility to get to their lane on time. After each race, swimmers should go directly to a coach to get feedback on their performance. Then, it's time to go back to the team area, rest, refuel, and get ready for the next race!

GSST has a well-earned reputation for running efficient (and fun) meets thanks to our wonderful volunteers. We are not able to host meets without the assistance of our parents. There are numerous ways to help.
